a swift intensive military attack, esp using tanks supported by aircraft, designed to defeat the opposition quickly
Isn't this the coolest word for me to have chosen randomly out of the dictionary? My favorite part of the definition is the "designed to defeat the opposition quickly". Were previous military strategies aimed at prolonging battle?
Anyway, I actually have a story about this word... crazy huh? As soon as I saw it, I knew what I had to write about.
So I used to teach 3rd grade, and I had some very interesting kids in my classes over the years. If you've never spent a lot of time around 9 year olds, let me fill you in. They are curious, energetic, developing their own interests, and best of all, they can wipe all their own body parts. :) I loved teaching 3rd grade.
One year I had this boy in my class, for the sake of anonymity let's call him Zorg. Well, Zorg didn't care about anything that happened in my class except history, and only when we talked about wars. One day, we were having a class discussion about the American Revolution. We were way off topic (we started the discussion with the Arapahos). I was trying to draw them back to the original discussion, but they were so into talking about the war. All of a sudden, Zorg gets out of his seat and walks up beside me. The whole class hushes, wondering what this normally quiet kid is going to say.
He turns to them with a dramatic pause and says "if you guys don't stop interrupting we'll never get to the blitzkrieg!" Then he went back and sat down and of course, the rest of the day all I got questions about was blitzkrieg.
Tomorrow's letter is 7 letters and starts with CL, happy guessing!
